There are two golf courses within twenty minutes drive. The property overlooks Lough Derg, the largest lake in Ireland. There is a strong tradition of fishing on the lake, popular with both fly and coarse fishermen. The area around Whitegate is famous for its traditional Irish music.Across the lake lies Dromier, home to the earliest inland sailing club in the world. The lake is popular for sailing and boating, including canoes, kayaks and windsurfing. Loug Derg is navigable over its full 40km length. Horse riding and cycling are also popular in the area.
Mountshannon is a few miles down the road and offers a farmers market as well as traditional blacksmiths.
